DTF Transfer Press Instructions

Direct to film transfers are applied to garments using heat and pressure through a heat press. Proper pressing technique is important for achieving durable prints that maintain their appearance over time. Understanding the correct pressing steps allows apparel businesses to produce shirts, hoodies, and other garments with consistent results.

Prepare the Garment Before Pressing

Before applying the transfer, place the garment on the heat press and pre-press it for several seconds. This removes moisture and wrinkles from the fabric and creates a smooth surface for the transfer to adhere properly.

Recommended Temperature

Press Ready Designs transfers are typically applied at 310°F to 320°F. Maintaining consistent temperature across the heat press helps activate the adhesive layer and ensures proper bonding to the garment.

Recommended Pressure

Medium to firm pressure is recommended when pressing DTF transfers. Even pressure across the design helps ensure the adhesive bonds properly with the garment fabric.

Press Time

Close the heat press and apply pressure for 10 to 15 seconds. During this step the adhesive powder activates and bonds the printed design to the garment.

Peel the Transfer Film

After pressing, allow the transfer to cool slightly before peeling the film. Once the film is removed, the printed design should remain fully adhered to the garment.

Final Press

After removing the film, perform a short second press for several seconds using a protective sheet or parchment paper. This helps ensure the design is fully bonded and improves durability.

Consistent Results for Apparel Production

Press Ready Designs transfers are produced for apparel businesses that require dependable results during garment production. Following the recommended pressing instructions will help ensure consistent prints across shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, and other apparel items.
